Commitment to communication truly is the key to growth. And, it starts at the top.

Last month, FTI Consulting published a report that analyzed 100 companies across the U.S. and Europe and found that 81 percent of the fastest-growing companies were led by CEOs who prioritize consistent and sustained communication. The report also found that those CEOs who recognized the importance of communication prior to COVID-19 fared much better during the pandemic than their industry peers and protected $260 billion in shareholder value.

This report underscores a simple fact: Consistent and effective communication about the long-term drivers for a business help to power growth and help protect a company from a downturn.

What does this mean? It means that leadership teams at fast-growing companies believe in the power of sustained communication in support of the company’s purpose, vision, strategy and story. They are committed to keeping these critical messages top-of-mind … internally and externally.

81% of the 100 fastest growing companies are led by CEOs who prioritize and value consistent communication.

Companies that were included in the study include AMAZON, AMD, Netflix and NVIDIA to name a few — and a common trait among the fastest growing companies was the leadership’s understanding of the importance of communications.

The report went on to say that communication was so instrumental in driving financial performance that company leadership should put communicating business priorities and strategy at the top of the agenda.
