RAISING THE BAR (STAR)

for the greater good|Jim O'Gara|November 18, 2012

Our OnMessage associates are always looking to raise the bar—or as recently discovered—raise the star.

As is tradition at OnMessage, last week we hosted our annual employee potluck Thanksgiving Feast. I first saw signs of raising the bar as our team members set out their dishes. From long-simmered stew to turkey to a perfectly-baked buttermilk pie, I knew our spread rivaled that of a fine restaurant.

We then got to work “can-structing” our annual holiday tree made of donated canned goods. Every associate donated, filling our lobby with more than 1,350 canned goods – more that we’ve ever collected before. As founder of OnMessage, I always have the privilege of placing our star on top – a shiny can of golden corn. The team wanted to raise the star higher than last year. I can attest, it was a bigger stretch this year to reach the top.

One CAN change the world.

We have our own Thanksgiving tradition around here – it’s called A JoyFULL Holiday. And as our agency has grown, so has the tradition.

For the past three years, we’ve turned our focus this week of Thanksgiving to giving back. With each team member bringing in canned foods, we get together to build a “tree” in our lobby. This year, we collected nearly 1,300 cans that will go to the North Texas Food Bank after the holiday season.

Get in the pink.

This week, we wanted to remind you that the OnMessage team is counting on your support as we walk/run in this Saturday’s Komen North Texas Plano Race for the Cure®. Our fundraising goal is $3,000 and we need your help as the Race draws near.

We’re extremely dedicated to this cause in fact, we’ll pretty much do anything to show our support (even if it means raising a few eyebrows to raise funds, as you'll see in our video).
